Product Description
Political Ideologies and the Democratic Ideal is a comprehensive look at the 21st century’s major political ideologies, their origins, and their development. Using an analytical framework that promotes systematic comparison of political ideologies, this text helps students understand ideologies like a political scientist and learn that ideas have real consequences. Used on its own or with a companion reader like Ideals and Ideologies, Political Ideologies and the Democratic Ideal focuses students on critical rather than dogmatic thinking and on becoming open-minded thinkers better able to defend their political beliefs.

The best book on political ideologies I have ever read November 25, 2007 Chelsea Webster-knife (Sydney, Australia) Comprehensive, detailed, provides full explanations of all political ideologies. If you have an interest in political ideologies, this is the book for you.
school books September 28, 2008 Nicholas Simone Product could have arrived quicker, however, much better prices than local book stores and the product seems new.
A Super Textbook on Ideology February 28, 2001 unraveler (Nevada) 5 out of 8 found this review helpful
This is a superb textbook. I used it in teaching ideology in upper division and lower division classes. Students find it accessible. Yet the book has the nuance and sophistication that are rare for a textbook. I higly recommend this book not just to those who teach ideology or poltical philosophy, but to any political scientist or historian.

My 10th grade Humanities class is reading selections from the text of the first edition of this book. I've loved what I have read. Probably no other book explains Ideologies better than this book. I've learned about such things as facism, liberalism, and socialism easily. This is a great book. I give it FIVE STARS! PS Check out the reader version of this book that has selected readings from people like Locke, Marx, and Hitler, this book is excellent.
