Product Description
"For years," Burt Prelutsky says, "the ranks of the Right were so bereft of amusing people they had to point to William F. Buckley Jr. as their token funnyman. Finally, thank God, P. J. O'Rourke came along. Now he was really funny. I mean, on purpose."
So begins the man who invented political incorrectness. In this delightful social commentary and on just about everything the Left does that offends him, he brings a biting wit.
  • On politicians: "If you have a politician for a friend, you don't need an enemy."
  • On lawyers: "How is it than in a society in which everything from toys to toasters comes with dire warnings attached, lawyers don't?"
  • On working people: "While liberals sing folk songs celebrating the wonderful folk who build the bridges, till the soil, and make the world run, they just don't want them to vote."

In 101 short, pithy chapters Prelutsky applies his wit and wisdom to the big issues of the day. To quote him: "So rightwingers, dig in and enjoy. Liberals, dig in and wise up."

5 out of 5 stars Hits the Nail on the Head !!!   January 3, 2007

I absolutely loved this book. Of course, if you're a liberal you will not find it funny. Mr. Prulutsky really hits the nail on the head on so many isues. I found myself laughing at his commentaries of current issues and also scared because they're so true. So, if you are a liberal and easily offended, don't buy it. Want to know what's really going on ? Read it.

This is a collection of Burt Prelutsky's columns over the years. He advanced from tasting the weed to walking the straight and narrow, and from a lefty to darn good conservative. He's a great writer and has written a lot for television---check out his M.A.S.H episodes.

Go Burt! Keep up the good work.

When I saw the YouTube video of Burt Prelutsky reading one of the vignettes I had to buy the book. Search BurtPrelutsky at YouTube and you will see what I mean.

5 out of 5 stars A man compared to Mark Twain   October 24, 2008
Dan Sonnenschein (Vancouver, BC Canada)

In snappy, highly readable little essays, the author employs acerbic wit and hard-headed logic to expose the pervasive lunacies of political correctness. Most darts are well-aimed at hypocritical, sanctimonious liberals, but he also takes good shots at other types of foolishness.

The last chapter is a departure from the previous one hundred, being a moving tribute to the author's late father, with reflections on how he might have viewed his son's "apostasy" in having left the left.

While the targets of Prelutsky's eloquent wrath would surely be riled by his disturbance of their dogmas, those who share his world-view will find themselves greatly amused and encouraged. Readers are also recommended to sample recent work by this author on his website.

5 out of 5 stars Must read   March 7, 2009

If you are not a Prelutsky fan yet it's because you haven't read Prelutsky. This book is a compilation of articles. Burt is the anti-venom to political correctness so needed in our lemming society. He used to write M.A.S.H. and DRAGNET stories but now he's in the political education business. You can also read his stuff on TOWNHALL.COM or burtprelutsky.com.
