"Smashed, Squashed, Splattered, Chewed, Chunked and Spewed" is the story of Idjit Galoot's ne'er do well owner and his efforts to work his way back to the dog that he loves. Along the way, Idjit's owner encounters Christian terrorists, swamp-dwelling taxidermists, carnies, a b-list poopie-groupie, bluesmen on the run from a trickster deity, and the Florida Skunk Ape.

I wasn't disappointed. The author is obviously influenced by Kurt Vonnegut and Douglas Adams but doesn't seem to try to be them. I have to agree with the other reviewer who compared the book to Christopher Moore's stuff. It would seem that Mr. Moore and Carbuncle had a lot of the same influences. Smashed, etc., is the ultimate roadtrip book. I loved the dream sequences with the author and his dog and would have liked to see more of them. Oh well, maybe in the next book. I laughed out loud too many times while tearing through the book and sometimes could not believe how funny something so twisted could be. Thank you for the laughs, Mr. Carbuncle. The off beat comedy is about a man and his best friend. A basset hound named Idjit Galoot. Idjit decides to run away a day before the main character and his mother move to Florida. With "stuffed" daddy in tow and cousin Denny they head for the new home. So begins a surreal adventure to Florida. Along the way meeting a almost un real cast of characters. I laughed and went through the book in record speed. The book itself keeps you speelbound and its very hard to put down. I recomend it highly. Definately check out Lance Carbuncle the man is a genious and I cant wait until the next book! Oh and I vote Idjit for president. The dog makes more sense than the current political nonsense in this country! Sorry Dr. Kean's secretary) It doesn't take a vivid imagination to picture the characters as they travel through the pages, please, please someone make a movie of this book! Hard to pin down the style, this is truly a unique vision of one man's (hilarious) life.
